Proposed Next Steps

1. Yellowknife Centre for Teaching Peace and Peace Cafe ("YKCTP")

·         Bob Stewart (the Elder) plans on being in Yellowknife December 1 to 10 (less a little side trip to Fort Simpson) to facilitate a series of dialogues to take the discussion to the next level of action, help us develop a common language and approach a common “wavelength”.  I currently am thinking those dialogues would include:

o   our preliminary protocol for creating safe space (ref. http://www.peace.ca/CCOPPprotocol.htm ), including the principles of Social Intelligence (ref. http://www.peace.ca/socialintelligence.htm ) and building better relationships

o   discussion of a Yellowknife Culture of Peace Program (or "Yellowknife Peace Initiative"), leading to the development of a Vision and Action Plan for a Yellowknife Culture of Peace Program, following the principles of the United Nations Culture of Peace and Non-violence Program.

o   the principles of Servant Leadership (ref. http://www.peace.ca/servantleadership.htm )  Discussion of how the Implementation Team will work.

o   Participant Survey - What would you like to see with the Yellowknife Centre for Teaching Peace and Peace Cafe? and  “What is the vision of the programming side of YKCTP, and time line”

o   Consider organizing a regular Speaker Series and Workshop Series by soliciting Expressions of Interest by existing organizations and people.

o   Other (please let me know at stewartr[at]peace.ca or 873-5595 what other things you would like to see happen).

·         I will be bringing my Peace Library and bookshelves to set up December 1.

·         Solicit donations of furniture (priority on café tables and chairs; stacking chairs for workshops; book shelves).

·         An Implementation Team would gather to help guide the unfolding of the new Resource Centre and Peace Café (“YKCTP”) over the next 9 month gestation period.  We would be guided by the principles of Servant Leadership (ref. http://www.peace.ca/servantleadership.htm ) and our preliminary protocol for creating safe space (ref. http://www.peace.ca/CCOPPprotocol.htm ).

2. The "Incubator Mall"

Space is now available to rent in the Peace Building.  It is our intention for it to be a gathering place for people and organizations involved in various aspects of building peace at the individual, family, community, NWT and world levels, and to share services.  Enquiries should be directed to Bob Stewart at stewartr[at]peace.ca or 873-5595.

I look forward to your further thoughts and hope you will join us and help find our way.
