CENTRES FOR TEACHING PEACE

PROCESS DEVELOPMENT

[Note: this is a Work-In-Process.  We learn from every new Centre For Teaching Peace created.  Everyone has a unique piece of the puzzle to bring, which we recognize and honour.  Are we doing our best?  That is our quest – we invite your consideration and contribution to help us serve in the highest and best interests of the Universe and all concerned.]

HOW DO WE BRING ABOUT TRANSFORMATION?

Our recommended path to peace is through Peace Education: teaching the skills, attitudes and behaviours of how to live together more successfully – also known as Social Intelligence (ref. http://www.peace.ca/socialintelligence.htm ).

For a brief example list of key skills, refer to our Peace Tool Kit (ref. Appendix 3 below) . You will note that these skills are “all about relationships”: with each other, and with ourselves.

Our projects operate out of both real and virtual Community Centres for Teaching Peace and Peace Cafés (ref. http://www.peacecafe.ca ), and are integral parts of an International Culture of Peace Program intent on increasing the levels of peace consciousness in our communities and world.  In brief, Community Centres for Teaching Peace and Peace Cafés are safe community spaces dedicated to developing a Culture of Peace at the community level through dialogue, conversation, workshops, and a library of peace resources along with wholesome food and drink options.  Our goal is to promote community connectedness again.
