November 21 - 23, 2005 - Leadership and Peace Training Workshop -  [Location: Student Union Centre, 3rd Floor, Rooms 311/313] 3 day workshop led by leadership trainer Robert Stewart, C.A., C.M.C.(bio) ,  "LEADERSHIP IN TRANSFORMATION OF THE PEACE PROFESSION" - What peace leaders, educators and actionists need as they strive to build a Culture of Peace and Non-violence in Canada and the World.   Background reading is the basic curriculum for a semester course in Leadership and Peace, developed by Robert Stewart, C.A., C.M.C., September 2005.  Modelled after the experiences of Canadian Centres for Teaching Peace and the Canadian Culture of Peace Program.

Leadership and the behaviour of leaders is a controversial subject in peace circles.  The intended outcome will be a better understanding of the importance of leadership with respect to peace, how leaders might serve better, and how we can hold them accountable.  Includes training on Situational Leadership and Servant Leadership. Utilizing a number of videos to stimulate learning and discussion. See our draft Agenda below.  Refer to http://www.peace.ca/peaceleader.htm  for examples.  We will table the results of the Leadership and Peace workshop for group consideration at the Fourth Annual Peace Education Conference in Canada which follows.

Location: at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario (Student Union Centre, 3rd Floor; Rooms 311/313) preceding the Fourth Annual Peace Education Conference in Canada, November 24 - 28, 2005).  Contact Bob Stewart stewartr [at] peace.ca  for more information.

The early registration price prior to October 31 is $200.00, after which the registration price will be $250.00.  Cancellations are allowed up to November 10 with a 15% cancellation fee.  Though refunds are not possible for cancellations after November 10, registrants unable to attend can assign their participation to someone else.  Note - places will be reserved for students and unemployed at a reduced registration fee of $50.00 CDN (To October 31 $25.00 CDN) and for retirees and underemployed at a reduced registration fee of $75.00 CDN (To October 31 $50.00 CDN).

 

Our conferences are designed to cover our costs.  Any surplus is provided to the Canadian Peace Education Foundation.
