My country is in real trouble. My politicians are all corrupt and only work
for the corporations. We give aid to foreign countries and make them take it
in weapons to kill each other.xWhen will we all wake up and see that their
are many paths up the mountain, the view at the top is the same. I love you
my brothers and sisters, unconditionally, just the way you are. Wont you
love me too?

How can we have peace with all this terror? As soon as bombs exploded, CNN
announced that the FBI wanted to send a team to investigate the attack in
Madrid. Was it at the request of Oliver North, the wannabe President who
can't even be elected to Congress? Oliver North wields power through
powerful contacts like Rumsfeld and Cheney. In the 1980's, Cheney and
Rumsfield periodically left their day jobs and made their way to Andrews Air
Force Base, outside Washington. From there, in the middle of the night, each
man-joined by a team of forty to sixty federal officials and one member of
Ronald Reagan's Cabinet slipped away to some remote location in the United
States, such as a disused military base or an underground bunker. A convoy
of lead-lined trucks carrying sophisticated communications equipment and
other gear would head to each of the locations. Oliver North was the
"action officer" within Reagan's National Security Council for the
most highly classified programs of the Reagan Administration and the current
Administration's capacity for leak-proof secrecy makes it difficult to
expose the secret plots that are invariably hatched by people who are
as arrogant as Rumsfeld, Cheney and North are, but the condition of world
affairs is a good indicator of all their handiwork. http://www.geocities.com/botenth/rice.htm

'PRE-EMPTIVE WAR IS NO SOLUTION' SAYS NO TO WAR - AUSTRALIA We are trying to
get people to stop and think and see that the Bush administrations doctrine
of Pre-emptive War is not only not a solution to terrorism, but we believe a
recipe for continuous warfare between the west and the Islamic world
(possibly spanning generations) that can only end up resulting in disaster
for all of us. Ordinary people have to stand up and oppose the hate being
generated by these fundamentalists (east and west) if we are to leave to our
children and grandchildren a peacefull and prosperous planet. We feel one of
the best way to start; is to help stop the current attempt at historical
revisionism and start asking just why did the United States and its allies,
nurture Al Queda and other allied Islamic terror groups in the first place;
and why today do they feel unable to face up to the truth, and admit to the
previous links between the CIA and Bin Laden; when on!
ly a decade ago they were 'cock a hoop' about the role these terror groups
(who they funded to the tune of 6 billion dollars and called 'freedom
fighters') played in helping speed up the break up of the Soviet Block by
defeating the then pro Soviet Afghan government and Soviet forces in
Afghanistan.

The time is coming when many will be asked to fight. We are being primed for
an epic battle, the enemy has been identified and duly villified. It
matters not what side of the conflict your are on, you've been told who the

Excellent resource of information.
I am Predicting that protest marches and all other activities will do good
only to raise awareness. The Human Species will be able to free itself from
our current imprisonment by militaristic governments by conducting worldwide
sit down strikes. I predict that ,by starting on November 1st. 2004 with a
strike demanding that President Bush resign and seek Psychiatric help ,we
can begin to reverse the perverse course that Mankind has been led on by the
ridiculous modern governments that have managed to create a condition in the
World making it possible for the Extinction of Life on Earth.
Thank You for giving this matter consideration.

The Bully - One Year Ago
In September 2001, the school bully was playing happily in the schoolyard.
We will call him Sam, to disguise his true identity. One morning, out of the
blue, a friend of one of the children attacked Sam with a catapult and
smashed both his knee caps.
Some of the children in the yard hoped that the terrible pain might cause
Sam to pause, and take stock of why he was so widely hated, particularly by
some of the children who did not share his right-wing fundamentalist
beliefs. This was, they thought, perhaps a chance for a new order to be
established in the playground, and for Sam and some lesser bullies to start
working constructively with them.
However, sadly this was not to be. Although still unsure who had attacked
him or why, Sam lashed out at one of the weakest children, admittedly one
who was highly unpopular in the yard, due to his drug dealing, harboring of
terrorists and destruction of works of art.
Some of the other children, who had also been behaving badly, decided to
behave better, and stopped fighting or agreed to decommission their weapons.
This suggests that, had Sam behaved in a more constructive way after the
attack, much good could have come from the tragedy.
However, the main effect, one year later, has been to reinforce Sam's
bullying nature and has made him even more paranoid than he was before. He
is continuing to threaten to beat up a number of children who he does not
like, and one in particular.
Sam is at this very moment planning a home invasion to destroy the dangerous
toys that Sam thinks this lad is hiding in his bedroom. Unfortunately Sam is
completely blind to the fact that such attacks will only increase the level
of hatred against him, and will surely lead to more vicious attacks such as
that last year. He is so confident of his great size and technological
prowess that he completely ignores the advice of most his friends and of the
school council. He is convinced that God is on his side and that all the
other children should adopt his ideology.
Sam is also the major polluter in the schoolyard, and steadfastly refuses to
adopt the pollution control measures agreed by almost all the other rich
kids. In this, as in his intention to destroy more of his enemies, he has
one strong supporter from the south of the schoolyard, known as Little John.
Little John is too puny to achieve much sway in the schoolyard on his own,
and is so keen to have Sam's (somewhat illusory) protection from other
bullies, that he blindly supports Sam's outrageous activities. Two-faced
Tony who lives to the east of the school swimming pool is also an
enthusiastic and unquestioning supporter of Sam.
So why is Sam, who so much wants to be loved, hated so profoundly?
Is it because he supports other bullies, including one who occupies other
children's gardens and destroys their camps?
Is it because he enforces vicious sanctions against some of his enemies,
causing untold misery to their families?
Is it because of his love of meddling in everyone else's affairs (such as
their approach to drugs control)?
Is it because he forces the school council to adopt his policies, despite
the fact that he is far behind in paying his fees?
Is it because he is so stingy in assisting the poorer children?
Is it because he imposes barriers to other children's exports, exacerbating
poverty?
Is it because he refuses to ratify the biological weapons convention or to
support the international criminal court?
Is it because he forces poor children to eat the (genetically modified)
crumbs left after he has finished his lunch (and fed his dog)?
For all these reasons and more.
Can he change his ways? Unlikely.
Can Sam's current approach improve the level of contentment in the
schoolyard? Almost certainly not. The future is dark and threatening, with a
third schoolyard war a real risk.
Moral: if someone breaks your knee caps, try first to understand why and
address the causes. Don't kick wildly with both legs, or you will certainly
end up on your back.
Another year has passed, and Sam, the schoolyard bully, has
been busy. The schoolyard has not been a happy place. Sam has almost
recovered from the damage he suffered in September 2001, but is still
thrashing around like a mad thing, trying to make sure it does not happen
again.
Sam unilaterally decided (on the basis of fabricated evidence) that one of
the Muslim children (named Shiraq - not to be confused with the leader of
the Frog gang) was concealing weapons and had been consorting with
terrorists. Despite massive opposition from almost all the children
and the school council, Sam proceeded with his long-planned invasion, and
systematically destroyed as many of Shiraq's buildings as he could, causing
untold shock and awe (his cute euphemism for death and destruction).
Many thousands of Shiraq's family suffered collateral damage (ie, they were
killed or had their arms or legs blown off). More will die for the
next few thousand years because of Sam's immoral use of cluster bombs and
depleted uranium shells.
Sadly in this insane endeavour, he was supported by Two-faced Tony (from the
east of the school swimming pool) and by Little John from the south.
Little John's support is understandable (if inexcusable) since he so much
wants to be liked by Sam that he will do almost anything to please him, and
like a stupid little dog, rolls over onto his back to be tickled by Sam at
every opportunity. Perhaps he believes that this will persuade Sam to
protect him from the local Asian gang, which he seems to think would like to
steal his patch of desert.
Two-faced Tony is a different kettle of cod - he tries to be seen as a
balanced and pragmatic leader, and we can only surmise that a couple of
wires got crossed in his normally quite sensible brain on this issue.
Whatever the cause, many of Tony's closest friends including some of his own
gang have come to despise him, and it is unlikely that he will remain as
their leader for much longer. His gang may even be voted out of power,
the problem with this being that the opposition gang's policies are even
more ridiculous than Tony's.
So what of all the weapons young Shiraq was thought to be developing and/or
hiding? He certainly did not use them when Sam and his cronies burst
into his house with guns blazing in March. "He must have hidden
them" grumbled Sam, "maybe in his sandpit or perhaps in the mud
under the dead lagoon". However, even though thousands of Sam's lackeys
have searched almost every inch of the sand pit, as well as his house and
outbuildings, not a trace of the weapons has been found.
Sam's other pretext for going to war - Shiraq's links to the terrorists who
broke his kneecaps in September 2001, and who Sam evicted from their house
in a previous home invasion, always appeared absurd. The terrorists detested
Shiraq as much or more than they did Sam.
"Well, never mind" said Sam, "after all Shiraq was a pretty
terrible guy - even if he did not have those weapons and had no links to
terror, he and his bathist party mates deserved to be kicked out. After all,
we need the oil that lies under their garden."
Sam's soldiers still occupy Shiraq's house. They are becoming
depressed that the people now see them as oppressors rather than the
liberators they believed themselves to be. Sam still cannot see that
the secular (if unpleasant) regime he destroyed is likely to be replaced by
a fundamentalist one that is at least as unpleasant, if not by civil war.
Other school boys, whose domestic policies are almost as awful as Shiraq's
and some who are developing their own weapons of mass deception appear to be
next on Sam's hit list. Undeterred by the intense hatred that has
resulted from his actions, Sam seems determined to try to rid the world of
all he thinks are his enemies (and maybe one day others who control the
resources that his insatiable economy demands).
It is a pity Sam was such a poor student, flunking both history and
geography. Otherwise, he might understand that all empires ultimately fall,
and that his vision of himself as a 21st century Genghis Khan will certainly
end, perhaps in a vast mushroom cloud, which will destroy the school and
most of its children.
So what else has happened in the past year? Sam remains a terrible
world citizen, who opposes every humane and sensible resolution proposed by
the school council, over which sadly he has a power of veto. Even as
you read this, his weapons designers are developing new ways to kill you,
including small nuclear weapons to kill those cowards who hide in bunkers
and caves in the hope of escaping the cluster bombs and napalm he used
against Shiraq. He is undoubtedly the schoolyard's greatest threat to
peace and harmony. How so many of his family have been beguiled into
supporting his actions is a mystery; or perhaps a testament to the power of
propaganda.
Sam still does not see that he cannot be the sheriff to all the world. He
cannot impose his will against the opposition of virtually all the other
children and the school council. Maybe it is not entirely his fault,
since he appears to be a bit mentally retarded (perhaps due to the
alcohol-induced destruction of the majority of his brain cells). Some
blame it on the Neocon gang, which has infiltrated all of the positions of
power in Sam's household and whose program for world domination he slavishly
follows. Whatever the cause, his policies in almost every sector are
unbelievably selfish and in the end destructive of world peace and order.
His economic policies are not much better.
Happily not everything is negative. Many members of Sam's own household have
turned against his outrageous policies. Many of his newspapers and TV
stations, though still far from balanced, at least now recognise that his
actions were illegal and immoral and contrary to the fundamental principles
not only of the school council, but also of the church he claims to belongs
to. Hopefully, enough of Sam's family will come to recognise him for
the lunatic he is that he will soon be impeached or at least not be
re-elected as their head.
Moral (if there is one): Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely,
but if you're Sam, why worry? If anyone complains, just squash them or
boycott their wine.

I was delighted to find your site, it has many useful resources. I belong
to a Global Renaissance Alliance (GRA)Peace Circle (http://www.renaissancealliance.org/).
This is a small group of people who support each other in our peaceful
views and our individual activities toward a better world. We
sometimes vary from our set format at our meetings, but we always do a
group meditation of at least 20 min., then share our visions. We believe
that peace starts with each one of us, that we need to maintain our own
internal peace if we are going to be able to promote peace as a concept
for our communities and the world. It has made a tremendous
difference in all of our lives. I think a therapist would call this
"group therapy". In a country like the US, where "Peace
Keeping" is often enacted in a war-like manner, we need this group to
stay focused. Thanks again for your website.

I discovered your web site a few months ago and appreciate it very
much. I am trying to determine what I can do to participate in the
global peace movement. I am particularly interested in the role that
environmental protection and sustainability can play within the concept of
peace, as this is related to my profession. Being fluent in the
German language, I am also interested in the peace movement in
German-speaking Europe, and, being an admirer of Canada, I am interested
in USA-Canada connections in peace. I am a member of a Mennonite
church, so this gives me a spiritual tie-in to peace. Now that my
children are almost grown, I am searching for a cause to devote myself to
with the extra time that I will have. I think peace is it. I
would welcome others to contact me with suggestions of things to get
involved in or collaborations that might be possible.

Peace, for those who need a clearer definition, is 'the absence of
violence'. This whole peace thing...it isn't ridiculous. Don't call
someone a 'hippie' if they're thinking and hoping about peace! I mean, no
one likes war and hostility right? Protecting and serving your country is
fine, but killing innocent people goes way too far. People say that this
peace thing started in the 60's. NOT TRUE! Peace has been going on for
centuries, and it's even been included in some every-day phrases. Everyone
needs 'some peace and quiet' right? Well, act now! Every day peacekeepers
are out there trying to keep peace in underdeveloped countries.
Underdeveloped countries are countries or areas in which fighting occurs
daily.
