Integrated Regional Information Network for Africa - Tel: +225 21-73-54 Fax: +225 21-63-35 e-mail: irin-wa@africaonline.co.ci ; Web site: http://www.reliefweb.int/IRIN -  Did you know that the United Nations offers free and up-to-date information, via e-mail, on events in sub-Saharan Africa? The Integrated Regional Information Network (IRIN), a unit of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), is dedicated to improving the information available to the humanitarian and international communities on crises in sub-Saharan Africa. Although aimed particularly at the humanitarian community, the service is freely available to everyone. IRIN "Daily" and "Weekly" e-mail bulletins are available in both English and French. The information is compiled from various sources: the media, UN agencies, NGOs and governments, among others. Please note that the "Weekly" information is issued as three separate regional bulletins: IRIN Central and East Africa (CEA), IRIN West Africa (WA) and IRIN Southern Africa (SA). At present, the "Daily" information bulletin is also issued by region. However, in the near future IRIN will provide a individually tailored information service for countries and subject topics specified by the subscriber in addition to the weekly bulletin. In preparation for this transition please specify which subjects (ie; child soldiers, OXFAM, Germany, etc...) and/or countries in Sub-Saharan Africa you would like to receive information on so we can create your personalized profile. Please indicate if you are already subscribed to one or more IRIN services and which ones so we can remove you from these lists when your new profile is created. IRIN also offers a dissemination service, called IRIN-EXTRA, for non-IRIN reports from the humanitarian community: donors, NGOs, international organisations, UN agencies and others. HOW TO SUBSCRIBE: Go to the web site at http://www.reliefweb.int/IRIN/subscribe.phtml or Send a request by e-mail with the following information to subs@ocha.unon.org :
Full Name and position, Agency and its originating country, Current country of residence / duty station, Contact information, phone number.  Please specify which service(s) you are interested in: -Weekly (IRIN weekly); -Updates (IRIN daily and IRIN special reports); -Extra (non-IRIN reports and press releases from NGOs, UN, etc..).  and provide a list of ALL countries and subject topics you would like to receive regular information on. The IRIN-CEA service is also available in Kiswahili. Thank You. Joanne Clark, Information Officer, UN OCHA IRIN-West Africa, Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire; Tel: (225) 21 73 54, Fax: (225) 21 63 35; e-mail:
